How to stop my Ikea Markus chair from pulling away when I brake?

Do you have any ideas? i've seen this guy trying to put cable on the wheels:
Didnt work for me.

Any other ideas?

Ive seen tehre are some sort of platforms that attach the chair to the wheel, merely perchance that is annoying every bit hell.

Should I but give up and proceed using my wodden chair from the kitchen? (I dont take enough money to buy another separate computer to have a permanent playseat on it)

When I used to race with a chair with wheels I originally used a I used square of carpet on the floor with a single timber laid left to right with the front wheels hooked over it which raised them slightly above the floor.

When I went to a pedal prepare that required more force the brake the timber would sometimes gyre 90 degrees so lock on the wheels once more which would leave me stranded too far away from the pedals mid-race after a couple of times.

To remedy that I created a triangle from 3x2 timber. Laying the triangle on the rug gave a base I could put the chair on which raised all the wheels just above the floor. Effectively creating a chair with a static base. Yous nonetheless get some swivel but information technology worked very well. Later on racing I could simply slide away the triangle down the side of my desk-bound and have a normal chair again. If I went back to desk-bound racing I'd take the same approach again.

I use door stoppers (triangular shape) to stop my chair from rolling. I put them under ii of the five wheels and this works pretty well. The stoppers are mainly prophylactic so they shouldn't slide on your floor.

Put the chair legs in former sneakers, or new ones for that affair. That helped for me when sitting in a classic office chair...

Timber? similar from a tree? im in spain in some apartment, i cant do any of that. Ive tried a carpet... the carpeting moved. The floor is a flake like marble texture.

I made a frame (like a 'ladder') from inexpensive 2" ten 2" that locked the pedals and hooked two of the chair legs/feet (two pieces forepart and back of the chair wheels) to lock the pedals firmly. Used that for a twelvemonth, and however wonder, with a proficient office seat, if it'due south better than the Playseat Challenge I use now, which is uncomfortable and unstable. Shamefully, I nailed the frame together in 15mins

How do you reckon this would work?

seems similar a crafty solution, but I cant find any fashion to buy it.

I apply an part chair that has a rope sling to ii carabiner hooks on the pedals. Works fine and is easily attached/detached.

I also accept a piece of pipe going from the pedals to under 1 of the legs of the chair to prevent the pedal base from tilting.

BTW the old sneakers idea sounds like information technology might work well especially if the sneakers are courtroom shoes and not cushy running shoes, merely running shoes might work too.

The erstwhile sneakers idea sounded so goofy and janky when information technology was first recommended to me, but it really works. I vastly prefer information technology to the wheel stoppers. I idea I wasn't going to be able to race at all until my art got here but the shoes accept been a actually simple solution.

BTW the sometime sneakers idea sounds like it might work well peculiarly if the sneakers are court shoes and non cushy running shoes, but running shoes might work too.

Interesting, i wonder if that works well. Putting former ass neakers doesnt sound too higienic tbh.

True, I find information technology interferes with my eating off of the floor and using my chair rollers to crease breadstuff.

This is what I use, a brusque rock climbing sling works great. The double loop is simply big enough for the forepart wheel to fit in and the chair isn't going anywhere.

I had the aforementioned problem especially later on upgrading my pedals from the cheap stock ones which come up with the Logitech DForce GT to the CSL Elite. Until and so, i just put two doorstoppers (this one) under the wheels. That was mediocre and no long term solution. I wanted to build a frame like @Medilloni did but I plant a wooden plate which I bought some fourth dimension agone but never used and had an thought worth trying.

Hither are the pictures of my "construction". I call back they are pretty much self explaining. It is really easy to "build" it and y'all only do demand an appropriate zipper for your drill and a wooden plate. Mine is 120x50x2cm which should practice the play a trick on for most people (I am 192cm alpine and have plenty altitude between chair and pedals).

Hey,

I've got the same Problem and did a solution in CAD. Volition try it in the next few days and post some Pictures. I volition just use my desk, Chair and the Wheelstand to concur everything together with a 5 meter ratchet strap.
Should work.
